Wow! I'm so thrilled to show you our new house! I'm so relieved that we have found our new place and that I love it so much. Alameda is a quick ferry ride across the bay from San Francisco where Bill will be working. This old and wonderful house has three big bedrooms, two baths, a formal dining room, and huge foyer and a basement. Plus a great yard with a pear and lemon tree. I can't wait!! We get the keys on July, 1st, and we'll have all month to fine tune it, then we'll move in close to August 1st. I'm going to have so much fun decorating, and just living in the place. My nerves are a bit frazzled still, and I've got a ton to do still with packing, cleaning, and preparing for family camp in two weeks, so you probably won't hear much from me... But isn't it great? I'll take better pics next time. The above photo is of the just the side of the house, the front is great too. Below is the dining room, then living room into foyer, then kitchen detail. The living room is HUGE with many wonderful built-ins. Whooopeee!
Oh yea! Pat, did you know that Alameda is an island?
Your new home has a lot of character and the built-ins sound lovely. Decorating will be a lot of fun. I also think it is a great location because you will have easy access to the city and you are fairly close to Berkeley. If you enjoy Shakespeare, Orinda has a nice festival in the summer.
Best Wishes with the move. I hope it goes smoothly.
OH, my. Your home looks completely wonderful. I am so happy for you and you sound so incredibly happy, satisfied, excited, inspired.... yeah! I loved the photos of your last place, so I can't wait to see what you do with this place!
What a nice house! Ohhhh, I'm excited for you! Yeah, I can see the great opportunities for decortating. It sounds like things are looking a lot more hopeful and full of wonderful things to come. I hope your move goes smooth. Do keep us posted.
Wow..I just do not tune into your blog often enough...so much has happened...I did not know a move was on the menu....and San Francisco yet...I have many wonderful memories of your Mom and I traipsing around S.F. and Berkeley going to Rubber Stamp Fairs, sharing secrets and laughing till our stomachs hurt....Santa Cruz will so miss you and I will too....Your new place looks lovely...the beginning of a new chapter in your lives.... please keep in touch Patrice and I will check into your blog more often also....I wish you all the best in this move and may your new home be filled with joy and laughter...
I was born on April 1st in Berkeley, California. I'm enjoying a life full of satisfaction and challenge alongside my dear friend and partner, Bill, and our almost twelve year-old daughter, Annie. We have a great house and garden that we share with two dogs, nine canaries, and three fire bellied toads. We are choosing a path of living that holds everyone's needs as precious and equal. We're loving an unschooling approach to education for Annie and ourselves. We're trying to live a life with the least amount of negative impact to the enviornment. One way we're doing that is we're really trying to be mindful about what we buy, how we travel, and how we care for ourselves. I will post my ideas, challenges, and celebrations for doing so on this blog. I would love to hear any of yours too!
