Now that Bill's away so much more, I am forced to face the fact that he is not going to be able to do the amount of cooking he has enjoyed in the past. Well, we all enjoyed in the past. So, I'm trying to excersise my cooking muscles. Last week I made a big pot of split pea soup and we baked madeline's, and today, Annie and I went into production and made six chicken pot pies. Five individual, and one family-size. I also made nine (!) disks of pie dough for future pies and quiches for eating ourselves and for giving away. I'm excited to try a recipe that LaLa gave me for a savory bread pudding. Next week.
Oh my, can I come to dinner? That looks so good. I have been terrible about cooking lately. Now that it is cooling off though I think I am getting the itch.
Mmmmmm...yummy! I was just thinking about how much I do like to cook when I actually do cook (it's not too often). It is one of the most satisfying things to do. Today I baked oatmeal cookies. Last week I made Stew. I baked Spaghetti squash for the first time last week too. I think I was afraid to over cook it, so it wasn't as soft as it could have been. Next time I'll bake it a little longer. Now that the weather is a bit colder I find myself wanting to bake things.
I was born on April 1st in Berkeley, California. I'm enjoying a life full of satisfaction and challenge alongside my dear friend and partner, Bill, and our almost twelve year-old daughter, Annie. We have a great house and garden that we share with two dogs, nine canaries, and three fire bellied toads. We are choosing a path of living that holds everyone's needs as precious and equal. We're loving an unschooling approach to education for Annie and ourselves. We're trying to live a life with the least amount of negative impact to the enviornment. One way we're doing that is we're really trying to be mindful about what we buy, how we travel, and how we care for ourselves. I will post my ideas, challenges, and celebrations for doing so on this blog. I would love to hear any of yours too!

Oh, I am so envious...I can't make pie dough to save my life. I have to "unroll" mine...LOL.. Everything looks great!
I wish I could make pie dough. The pie dough I make is hard ars a frisbee when I bake it. It is no fun to eat and embarassing to serve.
